This is the second community rehearsal site for Pastoral Symphony in Beijing, following the Tongzhou Yueqingshan Bookstore location. Level B is specifically designed for beginners—no prior experience, no graded exams, and no musical background required. As long as you are interested in string instruments, you are welcome. For children below third grade, parents may accompany them to class and even learn alongside them. First Session Content In the first lesson, we won't rush into technique. Professor Tian Yuan will be present in person to provide a systematic and intuitive introduction to string instruments for children and parents— 17:30 Orchestra Launch Address Professor Tian introduces the orchestra's philosophy, curriculum, and registration methods 17:40 Professor Tian Yuan's String Instrument Demonstration Introduction to the cello and violin, tone demonstration, and performance examples, helping children build a systematic understanding of string instruments 18:00 Hands-On Experience with Instruments Fractional cellos and violins will be available on-site. Children can touch, hold, and try the instruments to see which one resonates with them 18:20 Professional Guidance and Consultation Based on the child's experience, professional recommendations for cello or violin will be given, along with details on subsequent course arrangements Instruments available for rent at very low cost: violin from 50 RMB/month, cello from 120 RMB/month. Families without an instrument need not worry—we offer rental services, and children can start learning using the orchestra's instruments. Why a Free Orchestra? The mission of the Pastoral Symphony Youth Orchestra is simple: to ensure that no child who wants to learn an instrument is turned away due to financial constraints. We have seen too many parents who want their children to learn music but lack the time and energy to research which instrument is suitable or which teacher is reliable. Rehearsals free, performances free, competitions free—we have lowered the barriers as much as possible. Parents only need to bring their children; we take care of the rest. We hope children come because they genuinely love the sound of the instruments—perhaps they won't pursue a professional path, but music will accompany them for a lifetime.
