This was a violin class for complete beginners—children picked up a bow for the first time, placed the violin on their shoulders for the first time, and produced their very first sounds. The first lesson was taught by Hao Li, the Teaching Director of the Idyllic Symphony Orchestra. Hao Li is a former solo violinist of the Central Orchestra of China, an expert returning from Canada, with over forty years of stage and teaching experience spanning symphony stages across China, South America, and North America. Such a seasoned performer bent down to teach a group of beginners how to hold the bow, how to stand, and how to produce their first note. In class, the children studied earnestly and with great excitement. Starting from the most basic posture for holding the instrument, they progressed to attempting their first long note. Each child worked hard to imitate the teacher's movements. Some children's eyes lit up after producing a sound; others, though their posture was not yet perfect, could already feel the wonder of the strings vibrating.
